Soulaan People are not a monolith. The following Pillars are the core beliefs of the Soulaan Nation. Others who identify as Soulaan/Soulan may not agree with these pillars, which is their right.
Soulaan people are Americans of primarily African, European, and Indigenous descent, whose ancestors were Freedmen, formerly enslaved as part of US Chattel Slavery on the North American Continent.
Soulaan people are self determinative, naming our own selves and our unique ethnicity & culture, accepting of our entire ancestral background and proud of our American nationality.
Soulaan people celebrate and honor our ancestors lives and contributions to the world. We are inspired by their strength , and grateful for their prayers and sacrifices. There is no US without THEM.
Soulaan people know the difference between the racial term "black" and the cultural term Black. The former we were called as a contrast to the creation of racist "white" identity. The latter is the descriptive of the Black Culture created primarily by Soulaans, thus transforming the world.
All Soulaan People are Black, but not all Black people are Soulaan, and that is completely fine. We give ourselves permission to be part of the African diaspora and the entire human family.
Soulaan people celebrate the best our culture, recognize the challenges of our culture, and realize the power and potential of our culture to positively transform the world.
Soulaan people authentically and unapologetically love ourselves, and the communities in which we exist.
Soulaan people recognize the rights of all fellow humans to exist, explore, express, and self determine their identity, as we are all a part of the human whole.
